Qualifications:

Works with families, school districts, medical and community providers to ensure that youth with disabilities receive appropriate and effective educational services and supports.

1. Works with community providers, parent groups, etc. to market the services and connect families to the service.
2. Works with families, students, educators and others to assess student needs and develop plans of services and supports to ensure the most appropriate educational services.
3. Monitors the implementation of service plans and provides direct advocacy services.
4. Responsible for representation at CSE and other school related meetings.
5. Provides support and instruction to family members to strengthen their knowledge and advocacy skills.
6. Maintains accurate service records that reflect outcomes, services provided, progress notes and all other relevant information.
7. Responsible for tracking and submitting billing for consulting services in accordance with program policies and procedures.
8. Educates and supports parents and professionals in understanding individuals with disabilities rights and opportunities under state and federal law and regulations.
9. Responsible for the development and delivery of educational training curricula based on community and agency needs.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Master’s Degree in Special Education, Education or related field preferred and one year  experience providing educational services, educational advocacy, educational consulting or other advocacy services to youth with disabilities and their families required.  Bachelor’s Degree considered with two years of required experience.
*MUST have thorough knowledge of NYS Special Education Laws.
*MUST have experience working with 504's and IEP's.
* The ability to travel extensively throughout Monroe County, including private homes, on a regular basis; occasional travel to surrounding counties.
* Proficient in Microsoft applications.
* Working knowledge of special education law and community resources for students with learning disabilities/developmental disabilities required.
* Ability to provide professional, calm direction and support in tense, emotional situations and/or situations in which multiple parties have varying agendas and desired outcomes required.
* Effective listening skills required.
