On June 13, 2008, LDA Life and Learning Services joined Delphi Drug & Alcohol Council and Rochester Rehabilitation Center in hosting “Invisible Disabilities: Tools for Success for Human Service Providers” at the Rochester Academy of Medicine. The conference, which attracted more than 100 professionals in the fields of mental health, substance abuse, employment/training, and criminal justice, was led by Dr. Ellen Arnold, Ed. D. Kelly Reed, Commissioner, Monroe County Department of Human Services, gave the keynote address. The purpose of the conference was to raise awareness among local service providers about the prevalence of learning disabilities and their connection to many of the challenges facing our community. Participants learned about resources in the community to better support individuals whose needs cross over multiple service systems.
